Department carrying out activities: institute of tourism and sustainable economic development (TIDES)

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is located on the island of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands), Spain. It was set up in May 1989 by the University Reorganization Law passed by the Canary Islands’ Parliament, which united the Canary Islands Polytechnic University (initially, in 1979, the Polytechnic University of Las Palmas), and other university centers on Gran Canaria, some of which dated back to the 19th century. Therefore, an institution brings together a modern approach and many decades of experience. The ULPGC is recognized as a Campus of International Excellence, and a leading university in e-learning from the Ministry of Education of the Government of Spain. It is worth noting the achievement of five UNESCO Chairs at the ULPGC. Actually, with its 161 research groups and its 9 University Institutes, the ULPGC leads 286 research and innovation projects.
