The Marine Sciences Technology Centre (CETECIMA) was created in 2003. CETECIMA begun it activity in 2004, as a private, non-profit organization whose primary objective is to contribute to the overall benefit of society through the generation of technological knowledge and its application for the development and strengthening of the competitiveness of companies in the marine and maritime sector, in the field of technology and innovation, through the realization of R+D+I and the development of its application, in order to promote those initiatives to the outside, with openness to international cooperation and attracting activities of this nature to be implemented in the Canary Islands. Any entity or company carrying out an activity in Spain or abroad, as well as local businesses, may benefit from its activity.
It could also facilitate the application of knowledge from research organisations, including technological centres, through its mediation between these organisations and the marine and maritime sector companies, providing innovation support services.
The Centre includes three areas of activity: knowledge and innovation management, international cooperation and administration and management. Among the partners of CETECIMA, there is the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster, IT companies, leading members of the University of Las Palmas, and business representatives of the aquaculture sector, the environmental and engineering consulting, and the aquaculture and aquaculture sector.
