Climate Change and Energy Transition on the Mediterranean- Workshop (Paris, France)
21 November 2019 - 22 November 2019
The workshop supported by MISTRALS (Mediterranean Integrated Studies at Regional and Local Scales) brought together researchers of various expertise, public stakeholders and industrial in a collective analysis of the energy transition pathways for the Mediterranean countries in the context of Climate Change.
The objective was to mix views from academics, industrials and public authorities on the implementation of a sustainable energy transition compatible with international negotiations in order for the participant, to: Identify the main challenges in the years ahead, contribute in the marketplace of ideas and discuss potential sustainable solutions.
The University of Castilla la Mancha (UCLM), representing SOCLIMPACT, with Claudia Guitérrez, presented a poster entitled: “Climate Change impacts on renewable energy at the Mediterranean and Macaronesian islands” which shows some of the results of the SOCLIMPACT project.
More specifically, the poster shows regionalized projections of future changes in photovoltaic and wind productivity in islands studied in the project as well as about the future changes in the so-called “renewable energy droughts” (periods with low solar and wind productivity) which have great importance due to its effect in the storage requirements or supportive power production facilities.
