The Marine Sciences Technology Centre (CETECIMA) was created in 2003. CETECIMA begun its activity in 2004, as a private, non-profit organization whose primary objective is to contribute to the overall benefit of society through the generation of technological knowledge and its application for the development and strengthening of the competitiveness of companies in the marine and maritime sector, in the field of technology and innovation, through the realization of R+D+I and the development of its application, in order to promote those initiatives to the outside, with openness to international cooperation and attracting activities of this nature to be implemented in the Canary Islands. Any entity or company carrying out an activity in Spain or abroad, as well as local businesses, may benefit from its activity.
It could also facilitate the application of knowledge from research organisations, including technological centres, through its mediation between these organisations and the marine and maritime sector companies, providing innovation support services.
The Centre includes three areas of activity: knowledge and innovation management, international cooperation and administration and management. Among the partners of CETECIMA, there is the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster, IT companies, leading members of the University of Las Palmas, and business representatives of the aquaculture sector, the environmental and engineering consulting, and the aquaculture and aquaculture sector.

NAME: JOSE LUIS GUERSI SAURET
José Luis Guersi is the president of CETECIMA since 2003. Previously he has been executive Director in Dylcan (a company focused on packaging and marketing of the aquaculture production of 12 farms located in the Canary Islands), between 2002 and 2012, and CEO in ADSA, an aquaculture company, from 1991 to 2012. He is Counselor in Tinamenor group (aquaculture business group) since 1992, and member of the management board of APROMAR (business association of marine culture producers of Spain) from 1991 to 2012; association which he presided between 2007 and 2009. He has also been member of the Advisory Board of Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands (2000 – 2010), member of the Advisory Board of R+D+i, Government of the Canary Islands (2005 – 2007) and member of the Committee of Seafood Products of AECOC (2005 – 2010). He is specialized in marine aquaculture and business management from a sustainable development approach.
NAME: MÓNICA QUESADA PEÑA
Mónica Quesada Peña is a Bachelor of Marine Sciences from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria who has directed her professional career to international cooperation, always related to marine and maritime issues. She is the Coordinator of the International Cooperation area of CETECIMA since 2012, where she started working, as project manager in 2010. She has also worked for the Cooperation of the Canary Island in Morocco, as project manager, from 2009 to 2010. She is specialized in ports, coastal and maritime tourism and international cooperation.
